COMMENTS:  This, like Raku I, has the waist low versus high as in Native I. Even though it changes the look and feel of the piece, I arbitrarily included all high and low waist versions of this vessel in the Tri-rise III (TR-3) series. I remember making this piece. I used wetter than usual slabs so the piece bent and slumped and deformed in my hand as I struck it with the wooden tools. After that piece, I frequently worked my pieces when they were set up just enough to handle. I lost more that way but the effects could not be obtained using dryer, harder slabs.
